Rock Band Janne Da Arc Breaks Up After Bassist's Departure

Rock band Janne Da Arc announced its disbandment on Monday due to a pending legal matter related to bassist ka-yu, and the bassist's subsequent departure. The bassist formally left the band on Sunday, March 31, but the band members had been thinking about what to do beforehand. Vocalist and band leader yasu also decided to cease activities in order to focus on his health, and the band ultimately could not think of a concrete plan with how to proceed with the remaining band members, and so decided to disband.

The announcement by agency Uprise Product elaborated on the circumstances of ka-yu's departure. It noted that while the band was preparing the announcement of its new album and a live tour last September, it had received documents addressed to ka-yu from a law firm. The announcement noted that "if the contents of the document were true," then it represented "acts that went against society and what was right." The band decided to cease activity with any projects involving or related to ka-yu.

Uprise Product refrained from discussing the contents and details of the document as the matter could develop into a court case, but the announcement noted that the band hoped for a swift legal resolution to the matter.

While the band had told ka-yu that they wanted to focus on music, ka-yu had told them that he had found something more important than the band, and decided to leave.

The band was active from 1991 until 2007, and made their major debut single in 1999 with "Red Zone." The band has released a total of 26 singles, with the majority from 2002 onwards ranking in Oricon's top 10 weekly single chart. The band released six albums, the last four of which also ranked on Oricon's top 10 weekly album chart. The band performed theme songs for such anime as Sci-Fi Harry, Asobotto Senki Goku, One Piece (eighth ending song), Black Jack and Bakegyamon.

Super Neptunia RPG Launches for PC in West This Summer

Idea Factory International announced on Monday that it will release Compile Heart's Super Neptunia RPG (Yūsha Neptune: Sekai yo Uchū yo Katsumoku se yo!! Ultimate RPG Sengen!!) game for PC via Steam this summer. The Steam release will include English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and French subtitles.

Idea Factory International will also release the game for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in the West this spring. The console release will have English and Japanese audio and the option for French subtitles. It will be available physically and digitally, and will be Idea Factory International's first game in the Neptunia series to launch for Switch.

The game launched in Japan for the PlayStation 4 on December 20.

Idea Factory describes the 2D side-scrolling game:

In a world where 2D games reign supreme, an organization called Bombyx Mori forces its citizens to churn out 2D games as offerings to their leader. Those who dare to use new technologies or whose games don't meet their standards risk banishment to the soul-crushing Trial Grounds.

A girl awakens in this world with no recollection of anything beyond her name, Neptune, and soon realizes she possesses great strength. With her newfound sense of heroism and a strange book known as Histoire in hand, she sets off on a journey to see if there might be more than this two-dimensional life!

Quebec-based video game developer Artisan Studios developed the game, and is the first Western studio to develop a game in the franchise. Series artist Tsunako hand-drew the characters.

Compile Heart announced at the "Dengeki Game Fes 2019" event on Saturday that it is developing a new game in the franchise titled Game e Ninja Neptune. The company also announced at the event that it is producing a new original video anime (OVA) project for the Hyperdimension Neptunia (Chō Jigen Game Neptune The Animation) television anime series.
