'7 Seeds' Receives Second Season on Netflix in 2020
The anime adaptation of the 7 Seeds manga will receive a second season on Netflix. Included in the official website's announcement Monday was a new trailer and key visual (pictured) for the season, which is set to stream in 2020.
The staff and cast will return for the second season, led by director Yukio Takahashi and animation studio Gonzo. The only key addition is an additional production credit for Studio Kai, a new studio founded by Gonzo at the end of July.
The official website also announced a television run for the first season starting in January 2020. The 12-episode season has streamed on Netflix since June 28.
Synopsis
In the immediate future, a giant meteorite has collided with earth. All living organisms, including mankind, have been wiped off the face of the planet. The government, who had foreseen this outcome, took measures to counter the worst-case scenario. In particular was Project "7SEEDS," in which five sets of seven young men and women were carefully selected and placed into teams (Spring, Summer A, Summer B, Autumn and Winter). Each participant was then put under cryogenic sleep in hopes of preserving the continued existence of mankind.
When those men and women awoke, they found themselves suddenly thrust into a cruel world. While bereft and grieved over forever losing their loved ones, they sought to find ways to survive. (Source: MU)
The 7 Seeds manga was penned by Yumi Tamura over a span of 16 years, beginning in Betsucomi magazine and a year later switching to Monthly Flowers for the remainder of its serialization. The 35th and final volume was released in August 2017.

High School DxD's Ishibumi's Previous Work Slashdog Gets Manga
Writer Ichiei Ishibumi announced on Sunday that his Daten no Inugami -Slashdog- (The Fallen Dog God -Slashdog-) light novel series is inspiring a manga adaptation that will launch in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine on December 26. Kikurage, the illustrator of the novel series, is also drawing the manga.
Ishibumi actually wrote the first volume of the story in 2006, before his more popular High School DxD series, and the novel was then titled Slash/Dog. That series only received one volume, before Ishibumi revived the series with a new first volume (seen right) in November 2017, with the full title of Daten no Inugami -Slashdog- High School DxD Universe. Kadokawa published the third volume last December.
Set in the same universe as High School DxD, but years before the events of that series, the story centers on Tobio Ikuse, a high school student still reeling from an incident that caused the disappearance of his childhood friends. One day, he is attacked by beings known as "Utsusemi," but is rescued by Natsume, one of his missing friends. Together with Natsume and another girl named Vali, he races to find out the cause of his friends' disappearance.
Ishibumi and Miyama-Zero launched the High School DxD novel series in 2008, and ended it with the 25th volume in March 2018. The pair then launched the Shin High School DxD novel series in July of that same year, and Kadokawa published the third volume on August 20. Yen Press also published all 11 volumes of Hiroji Mishima's High School DxD manga adaptation.
The novel series inspired four television anime adaptations in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2018. Funimation released all four series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in North America.

Masami Kurumada Teases 'Special Series' of Saint Seiya Manga
The December issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine teased the "second coming" of a "special series" by Masami Kurumada on Saturday. The special series reveals one mystery after another in his Saint Seiya franchise. The magazine's next issue will provide more details on November 19.
Masami Kurumada serialized the original Saint Seiya manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1986 to 1990. The manga has inspired a number of television anime, original video anime projects, anime films, and spinoff manga. The manga recently inspired a CG anime remake that debuted worldwide on Netflix on July 19. A live-action Hollywood film has also been green-lit.
Viz Media published the original manga in English under the title Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. ADV Films released Toei Animation's anime adaptation with an English dub under the title Knights of the Zodiac, and later released it unedited under the title Saint Seiya. New Video Group later also released the series on DVD, and Netflix is now streaming it.
The series has inspired numerous sequel and spinoff manga by Kurumada and other authors, as well as anime adaptations of those same manga. The most recent of these is an anime of the Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō spinoff manga that premiered in December 2018.
Kurumada published the last chapter of the current season of his Saint Seiya: Next Dimension - The Myth of Hades manga in Weekly Shōnen Champion in June 2018. The magazine did not announce when the manga will return. Kurumada has been serializing the manga since 2006 and Akita Shoten released the 12th volume in May 2018.
Netflix added the first 41 episodes of the 1986 Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac) anime series with a new English dub and English subtitles last Tuesday.
Kurumada (Saint Seiya) launched a new manga based on his Fūma no Kojirō manga series titled Fūma no Kojirō: Jo no Maki (Prelude Chapter) in Champion RED on August 19. The manga ended on Saturday.

The Promised Neverland Manga Gets Live-Action Film in Winter 2020
#Live_Action_News #The_Promised_Neverland
19-year-old actress Minami Hamabe (live-action anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day special's Menma, live-action Saki film's title role, Hello World film's Ruri Ichigyō) is starring in a live-action film adaptation of Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland manga, and the film will open in winter 2020. Hamabe plays Emma (center in photograph below), and Yūichirō Hirakawa (live-action ERASED film, live-action Rookies series) is directing. 13-year-old Jyo Kairi (live-action My Little Monster and ERASED) and 17-year-old Rihito Itagaki (Show By Rock!! stage musical) play Ray (right) and Norman (left), respectively.
The film will shift the story's rule about orphans having to "ship" at the age of 12 to the age of 16. Hamabe is a self-professed fan of the manga who bought the print volumes and the e-book version, and she complimented the director and the staff for realizing the story's world. She vowed to do her best for everyone who loved the manga.
Viz Media publishes the original manga in North America, and it describes the story:
Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.
Shirai and Demizu launched The Promised Neverland manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in August 2016, and the series has entered its final arc as of September 2018. Shirai had stated in an interview in August 2018 that Shirai would like the story to "not extend too much" in accordance with the story's editor, adding that the length of the manga should be "ideally 20 to 30 volumes long." The magazine teased in August that the manga has entered the "climax" of the final arc.
Shueisha published the manga's 15th volume in Japan on August 2. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America.
The manga won the Best Shōnen Manga award at the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Awards in January, was nominated for the 11th Manga Taisho awards in January, and was nominated for the 22nd Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in February. The series also topped the 2018 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook's list of manga for male readers last December.
An anime adaptation premiered on January 10. Aniplex of America streamed the anime on Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, and HIDIVE as it aired. Toonami began airing the anime on April 13. A second season of the anime will premiere in 2020.

Get Served By Virtual YouTuber at Tokyo Bar
A bar featuring anime-style Virtual YouTubers as attendants opened in Ginza on Saturday. The bar, called "Snack Jūdo," is seemingly identical to any Japanese bar that serves an assortment of snacks and alcohol, but instead of a human attendant, a monitor on the front table displays a Virtual YouTuber, who interacts with visitors in real time.
The bar utilizes the "Vtuber Anywhere" technology by developed by Akihabara-based tech company Balus. Balus CEO Norikazu Hayashi said, "The good thing about Virtual YouTubers is that they can interact with you even when they aren't physically in the same place as you. As long as you have a camera, computer, and monitor, you don't have to worry about the distance. The staff will give you the actual food and drink that you order, but customers can sing with the 'Mama' and enjoy conversations with them." ('Mama' is the colloquial term for female attendants at Japanese bars, who are generally older women who can engage in worldly conversations.)
Snack Jūdo will operate until November 23. A total of eight Virtual YouTubers will be active in two hour blocks once or twice per month. The full schedule is available on the bar's website. Balus also has plans to implement the technology in other bars and storefronts in the future.

Heechul is asked if SM juniors ever get jealous over his love for JYP girl group
AKP STAFF
Heechul was asked about his love for JYP groups ever affecting his SM Entertainment juniors.
On the September 1st episode of 'My Little Old Boy', Heechul's good friend Lee Jin Ho came to visit his home. Up close and personal, Lee Jin Ho was able to witness an average day of Heechul, from the hours of his gaming to 'fanboying' his current bias group ITZY.
As he sat down to watch ITZY's comeback stage, Lee Jin Ho was amazed at Heechul's level of expertise on the group: he quickly got two slogans ready, explained the family background of each member, and memorized the song that was just released.
Curious, Lee Jin Ho asked Heechul, "Hyung, you are SM. Don't your SM juniors ever get jealous?" To this, Heechul simply answered, "It's no matter. It's best if both our company's and JYP's girl groups succeed."
Heechul also confidently mentioned how he MC-ed for ITZY's showcase.

The first 25-episode television anime season ran from October 2011 to March 2012. The second season, Chihayafuru 2, premiered in January 2013 and also ran for 25 episodes. Chihaya Ayase is a beautiful and headstrong young woman with a passion for karuta, a card game inspired by classical Japanese poetry. As a child, Chihaya was introduced to the game by a quiet, gifted transfer student named Arata, and she was instantly drawn to it. Now in high school and reunited with her childhood friend Taichi, Chihaya dreams of finding Arata and the three resuming their love of karuta, only to discover that Arata has quit the game due to personal reasons. Determined not to let Arata's passion go to waste, Chihaya and Taichi form the Mizusawa High School Karuta Club, where they learn that in karuta - as in life - working toward your dreams is the key to winning, even when what you want seems just out of reach.

Shueisha published the manga's 15th volume in Japan in Friday. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America.
An anime adaptation premiered on January 10. Aniplex of America streamed the anime on Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, and HIDIVE as it aired. Toonami began airing the anime on April 13. A second season of the anime will premiere in 2020.

Police Release Names of 10 Victims in Kyoto Animation Fire
#News
Kyoto Prefectural Police announced on Friday the names of ten victims in last month's apparent arson attack on the No. 1 Studio building of animation production company Kyoto Animation. The incident has killed 35 people in one of Japan's deadliest mass murders since World War II. Police have identified all of the victims using DNA analysis and are seeking approval from family members to release the remaining names.
Yuka Kasama (22)
A recent graduate of Osaka Seikei University, Kasama joined the staff of Kyoto Animation in order to pursue her dream of entering the animation industry. In interviews with public broadcaster NHK, family members said Kasama has loved drawing since little and began pursuing art since high school.
Yuuki Oomura (23)
A native of Kikugawa in Shizuoka Prefecture, Oomura graduated from the Tokoha University Faculty of Design and Fine Arts in March. He has competed in and received awards from local and national art competitions. In 2016, he received an honorable mention in the design category at the 101st Nikaten, an art exhibition held by the Nikakai society of progressive artists.
Ami Kuriki (30)
Kuriki, a native of Kitanagoya in Aichi Prefecture, has been an active key animator at Kyoto Animation since 2015. She was first credited in the fourth episode of Hibike! Euphonium and has since drawn key animation frames for Koe no Katachi and Liz to Aoi Tori. In celebration of the Year of the Rooster in 2017, her drawing of characters from the Hibike! Euphonium series was featured in Megami Magazine.
Junichi Uda (34)
A decade-long veteran animator at Kyoto Animation, Uda has actively participated in the company's anime productions since K-On! in 2009. He decided to become an animator while in high school and entered university and a technical to pursue his career. His drawings are primarily used as in-between animation frames, though he has also drawn key animation frames for Hyouka and Nichijou. Public broadcaster NHK reports that Uda is survived by his wife and young daughter.
Keisuke Yokota (34)
Since joining Kyoto Animation in the days when the studio produced Clannad, Yokota has risen in the ranks of a production manager. He has been involved in every one of the studio's major productions since 2008. Yokota was most recently the chief production manager of the Hibike! Euphonium series, including the spin-off movie Liz to Aoi Tori.
Mikiko Watanabe (35)
Having worked as a background artist at Kyoto Animation since K-On!, Watanabe has been an up-and-coming art director since Kyoukai no Kanata. Watanabe received critical acclaim for her most recent work in Violet Evergarden, in which she was able to create vivid and rich artboards that stand in contrast to simpler, digital backgrounds. In a message written last month to candidates applying for the Kyoto Animation Professional Training School, she advised aspiring artists to continue drawing even while struggling because "nothing will be born if nothing is done." She is credited as the art director for the upcoming Violet Evergarden Movie, which is scheduled to open in theaters in Japan in 2020.
Futoshi Nishiya (37)
Nishiya began his career as an animator at Kyoto Animation more than 15 years ago. He has risen through the ranks from a key animator to becoming one of the studio's best-known character designers and chief animation directors. Having worked as a key animator in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Nishiya received his first opportunity in character design in the spin-off title Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuuutsu. He would go on to create character designs for the entire Free! series and also presumably worked on the franchise's upcoming movie in 2020. In the award-winning Koe no Katachi, Nishiya's first work with up-and-coming director Naoko Yamada, he sought to "maintain a balance between stylization and life that still leads to charming drawings."
Sachie Tsuda (41)
Prior to becoming a well-established studio, Kyoto Animation was a company which worked on productions subcontracted from other studios. One such production was InuYasha, one of many titles which Tsuda had worked on in her career at Kyoto Animation. As the studio began to lead its own productions, Tsuda became a consistent digital painter in the coloring department and most recently worked on Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu.
Yasuhiro Takemoto (47)
A native of Hyogo Prefecture, Takemoto was one of Kyoto Animation's leading veteran animators. He is best known as the director selected to lead the production of Lucky☆Star after the sacking of director Yutaka Yamamoto, but he has also been praised for his careful direction in drama-comedy productions such as Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu and Hyouka. Takemoto began his career at Kyoto Animation as a freelance animator while studying at Yoyogi Animation Academy. He later joined the company upon graduation and made his directorial debut in Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magikarte.
Yoshiji Kigami (61)
Kigami was one of Kyoto Animation's most senior animators, having built his career working on landmark productions such as Akira. He was best known under the pseudonyms Fumio Tada and Ichirou Miyoshi while working on the studio's productions. He directed Kyoto Animation's first original anime production, Munto, and later supported younger directors as a storyboard artist and episode director in numerous productions. Kigami sat on the company's board of directors and was an instructor at the Kyoto Animation Professional Training School. Director Yasuhiro Takemoto once said that being lectured by Kigami is considered a rite of passage for new animators joining the company.

Main Staff, Spring 2020 Premiere Announced for 'Tamayomi' TV Anime
Avex Entertainment launched an official website for the television anime adaptation of Mountain Pukuichi's girls baseball manga Tamayomi on Monday, revealing the lead staff and a teaser visual (pictured). The anime series is scheduled for a Spring 2020 premiere.
Toshinori Fukushima, known for directing the later seasons of the baseball anime Major, is helming the series at Studio A-CAT. Touko Machida (Harukana Receive, Sounan Desu ka?) is handling the series composition. Kouichi Kikuta (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) is designing the characters.
Tamayomi follows the pitcher Yomi Takeda, who was not able to get very far in a cross-school baseball tournament in her Junior High years. Since the catcher on her team wasn't at her level, she couldn't use her signature move, the "Magic Throw," and eventually regretted not being able to use it. After Junior High, she decided to stop playing baseball and went to Shin Koshigaya High School, a school without a baseball club.
There, she found her long lost childhood friend, Tamaki Yamazaki, who used to play catchball with her when they were kids. Tamaki also played baseball during her Junior High years as a catcher, and could even catch Yomi's "Magic Throw!"
Their promise with each other during their childhood could now be fulfilled! Walking together on the road of baseball once again... The story of the girls who love baseball will begin! (Source: MU)

Scriptwriter Shouta Gotou (Kibun wa Ikaga recital drama) is credited as a main staff member. Main cast includes Yoshimoto Kogyo's otaku-based comedy duo Freak!, which consists of Tomita Junki and Hatsuna Ubuno.
The anime centers on four girls at the full bloom of their youth, working hard to achieve their dreams as they struggle valiantly. In Japanese entertainment, Maesetsu! refers to an introductory talk or explanation addressed to the audience before the broadcast of television programs, usually performed by assistant directors and particularly comedians in variety or comedy shows.
Yoshimizu launched Lucky☆Star in Comptiq in 2004. The slice of life comedy series was also featured in multiple Kadokawa magazines including Comp Ace, Shounen Ace, and Newtype. The manga went on hiatus in 2014 due to a new project Yoshimizu was then developing. Kadokawa shipped the tenth volume in November 2013.
Kyoto Animation adapted the manga into a television anime in 2007 and an original video animation the following year.
